During our complimentary phone consultation, we will discuss your design goals, preferences, budget, and timeline. Our in-home consultation will follow and allow us to assess the space, walk you through MDS’s design process, and note any existing architectural details. The fee for your in-home consultation is $200.00.
After understanding your style and preferences, we will design a packet of 2D/3D renderings embodying editorial precision and aesthetic balance. You’ll also find a curated selection of products with a detailed cost analysis.
You’ll receive a detailed design contract, reflecting our commitment to transparency and trust and outlining a flat rate for our services per space. This phase will also include two essential meetings: the initial Design Meeting and a follow-up Design Revision Meeting. The design process initiates once the contract is signed and the design fee is received.
Post-contract, our first step is a thorough site measurement and capturing detailed photos and videos of the spaces. The period leading to the first Design Meeting is approximately 5-7 weeks, depending on the project scope. In this meeting, clients provide feedback on the initial design and pricing, followed by a 2-week revision period leading to the Design Revision Meeting. After this, both parties finalize and agree on the Final Design.
To initiate the purchasing phase, we will present you with a procurement contract detailing the final design, total project costs, design fees, and the required initial retainer. You’ll receive an online profile to view all selected products for your approval easily. Upon your approval, we’ll proceed with the purchase of all items.
At MDS, we meticulously oversee and coordinate with vendors to ensure the timely and safe arrival of products while also managing the involvement of any subcontractors. The installation process is carefully planned, encompassing furniture delivery, handyman services, and final styling touches. Multiple installation dates may be necessary for more extensive projects to ensure a comprehensive and seamless completion.
The key distinction between an interior designer and an interior decorator centers on their areas of expertise and education. An interior designer possesses the knowledge to work with architects in shaping the interior space of a home. They are involved in the design process from the beginning, considering both functionality and aesthetics.
Conversely, interior decorators focus primarily on aesthetics, enhancing spaces with furniture and decor to achieve visual appeal. While interior designers can undertake decorating tasks (which we also do at MDS), interior decorators are not trained to engage in the design process.
